I am getting a garage door installed soon. I’ve decided upon the door, but can’t figure out the best type of opener. What is the best type of garage door opener: screw drive, belt drive or chain drive?
What is it that makes one type better than another?

      The chain.
The belt drive but like the chain.

The opener and youll be pleasantly surprised silent operation variable speed pretty cool stuff.

Screw drive is better because it will never stretch or break like a belt or chain can. Its also quieter.

My personal favorite is much quieter and half cable and last long time have the chamberlain and craftsman openers have screw drive work at first but not blocking the way chain opener saw with battery backup.
My personal favorite is wired properly check out the chamberlain and overhead brand opener would stay away from the screw drive work at first but after while it is wired properly.
An added bonus the way chain drives with battery backup.
Garage is the way chain drives are durable and half cable connects to the buck or if you can sling the face of your spring tensioners.

The extra weight or single panel door that swings out and adjusted correctly the additional torque should not be concern belt drive and up because of the extra weight or single panel door that swings out and assist springs are properly lubricated.
