How does a parking garage ticket despenser work?

I was wondering if anyone know how to get a parking garage ticket dispenser to give me a ticket without actually having a car there for the gate to open. I heard it was magnetic, others say its a laser that senses your car. Anyone know how to get a ticket without the car?
Well, i ment if you push the button when there is no car there it doesnt give a ticket. So i just wanted to know how does it know there is a car there.

      The ticket out its not sure why you would want this but most parking garages have button you would want this.
