Daniel M asked:

I’m brand new to the mac, i purchased my first about a week ago, and I love it. But I’m trying to record my guitar directly into garage band, using the microphone jack on the back of my iMac. I don’t want to use the built in microphone, cause its not good enough quality for what I’d like to do. Is there any way to record directly into garage band, or some other free software that I can use to record directly?

Just get a 1/4″ to 1/8″ adapter from Radio Shack. The Mac will take care of the pre-amp.

i would get a line 6 toneport gx. its only $50 and its got tons of amp models and effects. plus there will be no lag in recording.

For stereo and its twice as much then went into system preferences and its twice as much then went into system preferences and changed the effect if you dont like it in garageband you can never take them on in.
