What garage flooring / carpeting would be appropriate for my garage?

Sunday, February 27th, 2011
JJ8 asked:

Hi. I’m trying to pimp up my garage this summer, was wondering what would be a good flooring for it? The room is a game room / sports room….I have a ping pong table, dartboard, tv, sports photos, etc….

So I’m looking for recommendations about which specific flooring or carpeting would be good for it and what store I could pick it up at? Thanks.
edit: Mainly I’m looking for what material for the floor works best in the garage.

Is concrete at 2500 psi adequate for garage floor & driveway?

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011
Here I come asked:

I got a quote from a concrete contractor who is proposing to pour 2500 psi concrete to form my garage floor and driveway (about 1,000 sq. ft. total combined area). My question, is 2500 psi strong enough or should I request a stronger grade? They’re planning to add rebar for added strength.
The quotes were based on 4″ thickness (seems to be the typical for So. Calif.) just parking two sedans, no extra heavy vehicle types. garage floor is 21′ x 20′, and driveway is 21′ x 30′. I received quotes ranging from $6 to $8. so 2,500 psi is adequate?

What style of music do you recommend playing at a garage sale?

Sunday, February 20th, 2011
Jen asked:

I’m having a garage sale this weekend. I”m not new to garage sales… I’ve had many over the years, and I always play music in the background. I generally go with either country or “adult contemporary” stations on the radio. But I’m curious about the affects of different music styles on shoppers. Has anybody tried anything different at your sales, and what’s your experience? I’m thinking of maybe playing some salsa or reggae music for fun. What do you think?

Will remote control garage door openers sold at hardware or home stores work on older garage doors?

Thursday, February 10th, 2011
Holly asked:

Our remote was broken when we bought our house 15 yrs ago and the house is 30 yrs old.. I’ve seen them advertised in stores but not sure if they would work. (We have a roll up style garage door.)
Clarification on the type: It rolls up in sections & sits on a track overhead when it’s open.. The remote opener is broken & we need a new one. It’s probably 25-30 Yrs. old. Would the remotes sold now work for older doors?

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Me and my significant other were having a disagreement over whether we should park one of our cars in our garage. I don’t feel there is any benefit to parking in a garage, just wondering what everyone else thinks.
We also live in Michigan.
