It would be on a vertical surface over our garage door, because we have a tuck-under garage (there are two bedrooms directly above the garage). How do I ensure the brackets are secure? If I’m able to screw through the siding and hit a wall stud, will that be sufficient? Or do I need to first mount a plate (maybe a couple of 2×8’s) that hits multiple studs, and then mount the bracket to that plate?
