GarageFloor.com Advises Homeowners to Winterize their Garages

With winter fast approaching, GarageFloor.com is advising homeowners to protect their garage floors. Snow, rain, and mud can be tracked into the garage causing damage to the concrete floor and increasing the chance for injury caused by a slippery surface.

Garage Floor Mats

Garage floor mats channel liquids and debris out of your garage. This cuts down on mud and dirt being tracked into the house. Garage floor. mats are also a time saver, reducing the amount of time spent cleaning stains and sweeping the garage.

Garage Floor Tiles

When people see of the checkered design of a car show room floor, they are looking at garage floor tiles. Most garage floor tiles are interlocking for easy installation and the color combinations can give your garage a classy look. Tiles are constructed of hundreds of durable columns which allow liquids to fall beneath them to the original floor. A wet/dry vac can easily vacuum up the debris back through the tile.

Containment Mats

Most garage floor stains come from cars. Parking your car on a containment mat will prevent oil and water from collecting on the concrete floor. Maintaining a dry, cool concrete surface will preserve the garage floor and keep it safe for foot traffic. Containment mats are an affordable alternative to covering your entire garage floor. They are quick and easy to assemble, taking just about 30 minutes.

Garage Floor Epoxy

Epoxy is a seal that coats the garage floor. Stains lift right up from the surface, and today’s epoxy products guard against hot tire lifting. Flake colors can be mixed in to add some pizzazz to a normally drab décor.

When homeowners protect their garage floors, they create a safe environment for their families and maintain or even increase the value of their home. GarageFloor.com advises homeowners to install garage flooring before the holidays to ensure a safe and sound winter.

Jim Kesel asked:

Finding the right garage door for your home will not only accent your home but also add value it as well. Many people take their selection of a garage door for granted and use garage doors pricing as best way to make a selection. Purchase a quality garage door that fits your location and lifestyle will save you considerable money over the life of your home.

Ideal Garage Doors have been around for many years and are known for their quality. The company manufactures metal garage doors that include both steel and aluminum as well as all wooden garage doors. While wooden garage doors are very good looking they do have several drawbacks that you really need to be aware of before making your selection.

Wooden garage doors are usually made of quality woods that include Cedar, Oak, Redwood and Hemlock. Cedar garage doors are very popular due to the fact that they weather nicely and in terms of wooden garage doors they have the least amount of maintenance. However all wood garage doors will require a higher level of maintenance than metal and composite overhead garage doors. Wooden garage doors also are not all that energy efficient and when damaged are far more expensive to repair. Make sure you take the time to discuss these points with your local Ideal Garage Doors dealer.

Metal garage doors especially steel garage doors are probably the best option on the market today. Ideal Garage Doors line of metal overhead garage doors will meet just about any homeowners design needs. Their steel carriage garage doors provide a secure and strong door that features two steel panels that sandwich polyurethane foam that fills all the door panel voids. This design provides a strong and energy efficient garage door that has a high R-Value. The door panels also have vinyl end and top caps that provide a thermal break between the two steel panels.

In addition the top caps are ridged to make sure the outside air remains outside. One of the best advantages of an all steel and composite garage door is its ability to remain almost maintenance free. Haas garage doors quality garage doors can be painted to meet any color you desire.

If you are planning on heating or cooling your garage or have a living space above the garage then investing in the best garage door you can afford. In terms of garage doors pricing the Carriage Ideal Garage Doors will cost more. However the energy cost savings will more than compensate the cost of a high quality garage door. In addition there is nothing better than climbing into a nice warm car or truck on a very cold morning. A pre-warmed vehicle also uses less fuel so you can even save more money.

Again choosing a garage door based on garage doors pricing is penny wise and pound foolish. You really need to spend as much money as you can afford when selecting and purchasing overhead garage doors for your home.

Can 1/2hp garage door openers open a 2 car garage door without spring? One side of the wire on my garage door broke, right now the door is crooked. If I cut the remain wire, the door will not be sprung, will the garage door opener still have enough power to open it? This is just temp solution until I can get it fixed, but I need to know before I cut. Thanks.
What I had to do last night was, I losened the bolt that was holding the wheel that was winding the wire, it released the spring’s energy, then I just manually opened the door with a buddy. I’m going to hire a professional to fix it and wind it back to the proper tension though.

Bob Kirkright asked:

If you’re one of Perth’s many new homeowners, you might not have thought much about garage doors in the past. In all likelihood you aren’t aware of all the benefits you can get from garage doors in Perth, or of the issues involved in choosing them. Here, then, is a quick run-down of what’s in store for you.

#Choosing your material

Perth’s new home owners have the luxury of installing garage doors in one of many different materials. The spectrum of options in Perth is easily wide enough to suit the environment of any home in the city. The metal and wooden garage doors of Perth could both be automated, given sufficiently enlightened homeowners, and new garage doors can also be added tastefully to your house.

The different materials on offer each bring some advantage to you. Wooden garage doors are perhaps the most magisterial front you could add to your home. They are generally more expensive than metal doors, but many consider the expense to be more than justified by the appearance. Wooden garage doors are, of course, particularly suited to period homes, but they can be used in other contexts. Those who find the wooden garage door too costly or too high-maintenance might prefer to buy a metal garage door with a wood-effect finish. From a distance of more than a few feet, these are visually indistinguishable from the real thing, and are superior to it in many practical ways.

The last common material for garage doors is metal. Metal garage doors have a satisfyingly solid feel. Metal doors are also a good choice if you live in a high-crime area, and would like 100% satisfaction about the security of your garage.

#Security

A garage door is a potential route for a burglar to gain entry to your house, and so it needs to be as secure as the rest of the building. Remember that your house is only as secure as the weakest point: there is no point having triple locks on your front door if your garage door isn’t just as secure.

Clearly automatic garage doors, especially remote-controlled ones, need to take security seriously. Some garage doors solve the problem by using a unique, secret code to open the door. When you are buying a garage door opener of this kind, you should make sure that the code is different for each garage door sold, and that it is not possible to use the opener for one set of garage doors on another set. There should also be some mechanism to change the code. This will be particularly important if one of your garage door controllers is lost or stolen. This is not an uncommon occurrence by any means: people tend to keep controllers for their automatic doors in their handbags or their cars. When they are mugged or their handbag is stolen (both events are common enough that they are a genuine cause for concern), the automatic garage doors’ remote control is in the hands of some criminal, and it becomes essential to change the codes on the garage doors. It’s no different from how you would change the locks on your doors if your keys were stolen.

It may be possible to skimp a little on the security of your garage doors, if you don’t keep anything valuable in your garage, and if there is a locked door between your garage and the rest of your house. But this isn’t advisable, even if your garage is empty: people become lazy, forget that the garage doors aren’t secure, and end up leaving the door into the rest of the house entirely unlocked. Better to be safe than sorry, and to make sure that you have a good, secure locking system on your automatic garage doors.

I was wondering if anyone know how to get a parking garage ticket dispenser to give me a ticket without actually having a car there for the gate to open. I heard it was magnetic, others say its a laser that senses your car. Anyone know how to get a ticket without the car?
Well, i ment if you push the button when there is no car there it doesnt give a ticket. So i just wanted to know how does it know there is a car there.

This cat was our lovable outdoor cat. We tried bringing her in the house b/c of mice issues. Even the smell/presence of a cat keeps mice out. But, none of us are really enjoying the cat being in the house. We’d like to try to keep her in our attached garage. Will it work to allow her outdoors during the day and bring her in at night? We’ll have litter, bedding, food, water in the garage.

My garage has termite damage (although no present termites apparently, plus the roof is leaky and the doors are coming off. This is an OLD garage. It was never fully finished and just had barn style doors on it. Assuming we don’t have to pull it down and start from scratch (and how much wouldTHAT cost??) what’s a reasonable estimate? We are in Oklahoma. I want to get an idea before I start asking contractors for quotes so I won’t be shocked and/or cheated.
