Can I replace the rubber seal on the bottom of my garage door myself?

Posted by admin
J B asked:

There is some rust along the metal strip but the rubber on the bottom is rigid and broken in many places, letting the snow come in. Are there kits for this or will I be forced to hire someone to do it?
It is 18 years old so wondering how difficult it is going to be to get off and put a new one one.

Yes. Open the door part way, or all the way, and just remove the old seal and install a new one. Large home supply stores should carry replacements. You may want to adjust the opener down limit switch after doing this.
